Description

Supports converting Visual Basic 6 (VB6) projects to a project file that can be loaded and built from Visual Studio 2010, 2012 or 2013.

This extension allows you to view and compile Visual Basic 6 (VB6) projects from within Visual Studio.

Visual Studio Support

  • Visual Studio 2010
  • Visual Studio 2012
  • Visual Studio 2013

Requirements

You still require Visual Basic 6 to be installed to be able to build the projects.

Getting Started

  • Download and install the Visual Studio extension from the releases or the Visual Studio Gallery.
  • Download the Project Converter
  • Use the project converter to convert your .vbp project to a .vbpx project to allow it to load in the IDE.

You can now add / open your project from Visual Studio, and compile.

Limitations

You cannot (and should not) edit the source files for your VB6 project from within Visual Studio, as Visual Studio may mangle your code, believing it to be VB.NET.
